CIAAI helps Fire Investigators in training opportunities and available resources. Colorado has various terrains that range from mountains with thick forest, grassy plains, and desert. CIAAI is the Colorado Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), an 8,000-member association of professionals from around the world dedicated to the control of arson and the investigation of all fires. Members include fire service investigators, police, engineers, scientist, insurance professionals, and attorneys in more than 70 chapters worldwide.

This 4-hour course is for fire investigators, police officers, or personnel tasked with the collection, packaging, and submission of fire debris evidence. Topics will include collection, packaging, and preservation of fire debris, liquid evidence, clothing items, soil biohazards, and the collection of comparison samples. Also included is a brief presentation of how the samples are processed, analyzed, and preserved in the lab. Understanding laboratory report wording, and what information does the report provide you if your case goes to trial will also be discussed. Additional topics of interest may be covered as time allows. Certificates will be issued for 4 hours of training. |
